Kindy Boo Boos

[spinning]: sexyback – justin timberlake

My mum's a kindy teacher in St. Andrew's and she recently brought back some of the revision assessment papers to mark. I went through some of them and laughed till my cheeks hurt. Here are some of the priceless kindy boo boos:

The next set of questions, the kids were supposed to fill in either is, are or am.

I now understand why my mother has alot more white hairs growing on her head. Hahaha. The barbie one really cracked me up because not only did the kid answer barbie, she drew a flower above the i! I mean, she actually took time to draw the flower! Lol. Poor mum!

rockstar:supernova

Don't know if you guys are following Rockstar:Supernova or not, but I am! And here are my favourites!!!

Dilana
Because she is way cool and she can sing your socks off. I hope she wins!

Zayra
Because anyone who can get away with wearing her outfits, deserves to win. Plus, she's original and she's got more balls than any of the other guys. Especially Lukas!

full immersion

[spinning]: vitamin R - chevelle

I got baptized on Sunday!!!! Yay!!! Finally! It was a joyous moment. So remember people (especially Sharon) that I have two birthdays. Haha. On August 13th and September 23rd. Don't you forget it!

Still no call from Fratini's. Yeah, disappointing, I know. But even better news! Thanks to Rev. Johnny, I met the Director of Empire's Human Resources after church service. She gave me her card and I emailed her my CV a few moments ago. She told me there was an opening in Event Sales. EVENT SALES yo! Apart from being a chef, that is also what I want to do. Praise God for giving me this opportunity! I love doing event sales, it was always one of my stronger feats during restaurant practicals. I really, honest to God really WANT this job. REALLY REALLY
REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want this job.

And thanks to Ben, I met the Pastry Chef at Sheraton. Apparently, they're short on staff but aren't officially putting out the word for new hires. But he'll remind Chef Ken that I'm still around.

Yeah! It's been a pretty eventful week to say the least. Gutted that I can't afford to go to One Voice in Miri though. Maybe next time. When I have money! :( Oh! Just remembered that I haven't posted about the Youth Retreat yet!

The Youth Retreat was fun! The whole busload of us went down to St. Margaret's in Seria for the the night. It was about the Holy Spirit, meant for the youths taking the foundation class. So Ronald and I found ourselves going through stuff that we learned very recently during our foundation class. It was like revision class. Hehe. The Seria youths were very hospitable! They took good care of us! The four of us, 'older girls', Grace, Janet. Laurice and I were stuck in the non-airconditioned room, which was good because it meant that we had lots of room.

Laurice had her middle of the night craving for fried chicken which made all of us hunger for KFC's Hot and Spicy Chicken. And the horror of learning that Grace has never been to KFC led us to hunt for KFC the next day. But we didn't. Went to go eat Kolomee. Which if you ask me, is seriously overrated. Seria Kolomee is not THAT great. I mean, it's cheap. But there're nice ones here in BSB too, like at Rejoice in Kiulap and at the pork market near the Sangilos' house.

Then we walked to the beach and watched the younger ones play in the sand. Hehe. The beach was... not a very nice one. Haha. Someone found a really big clam, I think it was Emily, which Janet adopted as her pet. We were all trying to pry it open. None of us had lighters to 'cook' it open. Till we got back to the church and Ronald cooked it over the gas burner. Eventually he got it open and lo and behold! Fat, juicy clam! Which Janet left to die on the table. Hahaha. Fun meh-moh-ries.

Nachooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

[spinning]: that i am, i am song from nacho libre

Jack Black <3. I must say.. Nacho Libre was one weird ass movie. I mean what the?? But it was hilarious nonetheless. Come on, how can you not laugh at Jack Black. "When you are a man.. sometimes.. you like to wear stretchy pants.. in your room." Yes wise words from the nacho..

I miss Ratty from XPlay. In yo face biotch!

Some of us were talking the other day after YDM during dinner about old cartoon shows. And only a few of us i.e. me and terrence knew about Jem and the Holograms. Come on.. Jem is my name, no one else is the same? Tsk. They don't make cartoons like that anymore! :(

how would you explain your constant lack of motion?

[spinning]: a stranger – a perfect circle

I met Chef Maurizo yesterday. It went well. It was a casual meeting, he was very nice. Straightforward and honest. Haha. No beating around the bush. He's going to pass my CV to the HR, he doesn't have the authority to make an offer. He said my chances are very good. And even if things don't work out at Fratini's he will help put in a good word for me at Rizqun and Saffron. Just continue praying!!

I decided that I won't go back for my graduation in September. Yeah, it'll cost too much and I don't need these unncessary expenses and neither does my sister. Besides, she and prav won't even be in KL during the ceremony so there's no point. Oh well, no big deal! No need to listen to the boring speeches and countless hours waiting for my name to be called.

Desert Island List

[spinning]: hungry – dave navarro

If you were asked to choose only 10 ingredients to take with you to a proverbial desert island to cook with for the rest of your life, which of your favourites would you choose? And what 3 cooking techniques would you choose?

I've been thinking about it for the past few days and this is my list:

INGREDIENTS

1. Chilli Padi. I'm Thai, it's in my blood. I can't live without it!

2. Garlic. Absolutely essential with the chillies, it adds depth and it's good for you too!

3. A Rooster and a Chicken. So I can have eggs, and more chickens! There's so many things you can do with chicken.. and I love eggs. Haha.

4. Coriander. My favourite herb. So vibrant, so good with the chillies and the garlic!!

5. Lime. I'd make a 'yam' marinade for the seafood i'd catch from the sea. I could live on that.

6. Olive Oil. You gotta have the olio. And this is the best tasting one there is!

7. Tomatoes. There's nothing like vine-ripened tomatoes. Roma tomatoes in the summer.. and you can just eat it in all it's raw juicy glory. Or a tomato confit! I'd forage for other vegetables and tubers.

8. Black Pepper. I wouldn't have to bring salt.. I'd get it from the sea! But I need the black pepper. It's so much better than the white stuff!

9. Chocolate. If I had to pick one dessert then it'd have to be chocolate. Chocolate Ice Cream. Hello? Desert Island? What could be more perfect?

10. Rice. I'm Asian, I can't live without rice. But I'd want Bread too! Okay, either one of rice, bread or pasta will do.

TECHNIQUES

1. Boiling. To cook my rice and seafood

2. Grilling. The smoky flavours.. and they go really well with the lime and the coriander..

3. Sauteeing. Nothing like a quick stir fry! And it's one of the first techniques I learned as a kid.
